F1 Ferrari: Binotto’s words on mistakes cause discussion
Ferrari team principal Binotto: “Sometimes what are perceived as mistakes are not real mistakes”
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto in an interview with racer.com again makes fans debate when questioned about the various strategy mistakes of the race wall during GPs: “Sometimes what are perceived as mistakes are not actually real mistakes.”
“Of course, we always have to improve and learn lessons and that’s what we are doing now. But looking back at the whole season I think there is a lot of outside perception about what is the truth and what is the reality.” Binotto is referring specifically to the Belgian GP finale: “You have to be brave in F1. There was an opportunity for us to make the fastest lap with Leclerc, I think it was the right decision.”
On the gap with Red Bull: “What I hope is that the gap we saw in Belgium we won’t see in the next races, Spa has always amplified the gaps because it’s a long track and every time you have an advantage in terms of efficiency it’s amplified on a circuit like that.”
