Former team principal Andreas Seidl has moved to the Sauber Group.

Frederic Vasseur’s move to Ferrari has caused a domino effect among several Formula 1 teams. In fact, the Sauber Group has appointed Andreas Seidl, now the former team principal of McLarem, as its new CEO but has not yet announced the name of the French executive’s successor, who has moved to the Maranello stable.

At the helm of the British team, on the other hand, in place of the German, has been appointed, by Zak Brown, the Italian Andrea Stella, who started at McLaren as Fernando Alonso’s track engineer.

“I am delighted that Andrea Stella will assume the role of Team Principal and lead our F1 technical and operational program. Andrea is a very talented, experienced and respected member of our team with a solid track record of leadership and success in Formula 1. His move into this role is a great example of the strength and depth we have in our team, and I am excited to work more closely with him with the common goal of climbing the grid and winning races. I have really enjoyed working with Andreas. He has provided great leadership to the team and has played a significant role in our F1 performance recovery plan and our path back to the grid. I thank him for his transparency throughout the process, which gave us time to plan accordingly for his succession,” the Woking team’s number one communicated.

“I feel privileged to take on the role of Team Principal as the next phase of the McLaren F1 Team membership. I am grateful to Zak and the shareholders for their trust placed in me and to all my colleagues and those who have supported me throughout my F1 career. We are realistic about the amount of work ahead of us to get back on the grid, but I am excited and encouraged to be on this journey together with a team full of talent, experience, competitive spirit and dedication. I look forward to working closely with each of them, Lando and Oscar, to achieve great successes together and enjoy this adventure,” new team principal Andrea Stella said warmly.
