Franco Morbidelli: “I’m heading to Misano to make up for it”

Franco Morbidelli is counting on the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix to get back on track after a tough weekend at Aragon. The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider heads into one of the most anticipated events of the season with the goal of turning the potential he’s shown in recent races into results.

The Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” holds a special place in the Italian-Brazilian rider’s career. It was on this very track, in 2020, that Morbidelli claimed his first MotoGP victory, while in 2024 he returned to the podium with a third-place finish in the Sprint race. Added to this is his in-depth knowledge of the track, gained in part through his work during the WDW and in tests conducted throughout the year.

Currently 16th in the overall standings with 53 points, Morbidelli wants to take advantage of his home round to take another step forward. For him, Misano also holds special significance alongside the Brazilian GP, another particularly important event given his heritage.

“Misano is always amazing; the atmosphere is magical, and the home crowd is always special,” he said. “We’re arriving at our home track feeling really pumped because we had good potential at Aragon. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to capitalize on it, but we’re aiming to make up for it this weekend. The goal will be to have a clean weekend; it’ll be important to try to get the most out of everything and do a great job because, along with Brazil, this is the most important race for me.”
