No panettone for the player cut by José Mourinho: he’s looking elsewhere
Dani Carvajal is looking to the Premier League to revive his career following the end of his long stint with Real Madrid. The 34-year-old Spanish fullback is currently a free agent and has reportedly been offered to Liverpool and Manchester City. Fulham is also in the mix and is said to have shown greater interest in exploring the possibility of signing him.
Carvajal left Real Madrid on June 30, when his contract naturally expired (Mourinho did not ask him to stay), and has been looking for a new home ever since. Spanish clubs, teams from Saudi Arabia, and MLS clubs have shown interest in him, but the player’s priority is reportedly to continue his career in European soccer. In recent weeks, his name has been linked with both Milan (where he is valued for his tactical versatility) and Inter, although no Italian negotiations have materialized
According to TeamTalk journalist Graeme Bailey, the agents working on the Spaniard’s future have also sounded out Liverpool and Manchester City. At the moment, however, neither of the two English giants has reportedly initiated any real negotiations. What makes the deal particularly interesting is his free-agent status. Carvajal can be signed at no transfer fee, even after the summer transfer window closes, leaving the potential buying club to cover only his salary, signing bonus, and other contractual agreements.
He brings a top-tier resume to the table. In 13 seasons with Real Madrid’s first team, the fullback has made 450 appearances and won 27 trophies, including six Champions League titles, four La Liga championships, and two Copa del Rey titles.
Among the three English suitors, Fulham currently appears to be the most likely option. The London club is reportedly evaluating the Spanish player’s profile ahead of the 2026–27 season, although no official offer has yet been made.
Carvajal can therefore wait and take his time choosing his next destination. The Premier League represents a real possibility, with Liverpool and Manchester City keeping an eye on the situation and Fulham—at least for now—seeming more willing to pursue the deal.
