Ducati, Aleix Espargaró puts discord: “Martin better than Bastianini.”
The Aprilia centaur is critical of the Borgo Panigale stable’s choice: “Martin is more talented than Bastianini.”
Aprilia centaur Aleix Espargaró in an interview with Motorsport said he was skeptical of Ducati’s choice to target Enea Bastianini for the factory team from 2023. “I would have chosen Jorge Martin, but it doesn’t count because I’m very good friends with Jorge and maybe I’m not impartial.”
According to Espargaró, Martin is a more talented rider than Bastianini: “In my opinion Jorge is more talented, he’s a killer, he’s beastly talented. I think this year Martin is not getting the results that reflect him because of this thing and the way Ducati has handled it.”
“You also have to say that when you have so many strong young people, in the end it’s not even a bad reasoning: play the bike and prove it on the track. I have always thought that we sportsmen have to earn our bread by competing, but a lot of pressure has been put on them. Personally, I think at the level of stability and speed, Jorge Martin is the most like Marc Marquez.”
