With the market closed Pioli spills the beans on Rafael Leao

The last days of the market have kept Milan fans in suspense, anxious about the possible transfer of Rafael Leao. The Portuguese had ended up in the crosshairs of Chelsea, willing to shell out 120 million euros to secure him.

Fortunately for the Diavolo, Leao remained at Milan: ” Never, never did I have the fear of losing Leao because the club never told me there was this possibility, nor did he ever have his head elsewhere. I waited with relative anxiety for the end of the market; it is not right to play with the market still open. With certain new players I am thinking about something,” Stefano Pioli revealed in a press conference.

On Saturday at 6 p.m. the Rossoneri will face Inter: “I see a balanced match and episodes may make the difference. We should have the lucidity to come out favored by the episodes. We have to have our identity, carrying it forward in the course of the match beyond what happens; we are working on it: we have our ideas and our way of playing. It is possible that tomorrow Inter will field the same team as last year, as will more or less us. I expect a vibrant, energetic, dueling game.”

“Ours is a shared path: to invest in talented youngsters and prospects, confirming a block of players who have already shown that they are very competitive and still have ample room for improvement. I said after Sassuolo that we would see a different Milan tomorrow, because the opponents change. We will try to carry out our ideas with great strength, great energy and great quality: that’s how great matches are decided,” the Rossoneri’s helmsman concluded.
