Mooney VR46, Vietti vents all his disappointment
Valentino Rossi’s team rider missed a good chance for the Moto2 World Championship.
A race to forget for the Moto2 pair of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, with Celestino Vietti Ramus and Niccolò Antonelli forced to retire after a crash. Both on track with the special livery designed by Mad Dog Jones for VR46 Metaverse, they ended the home GP without gaining any points in the standings.
Starting from pole position and very fast from the first free practice, Celestino, third after the first lap, immediately kept pace with the leading group. Fighting for the podium, he is the victim of a crash during the sixth lap that forces him to retire permanently on lap 15. He remains at 156 points in the overall standings, fourth overall: “I’m really sorry – are his words – because a finish like that right at my home GP, in front of all our fans and after yesterday’s pole position, was not wanted. A real shame, I didn’t get a great start, but I was in the slipstream of the group fighting for the podium and it could have been a good chance to be able to close the gap. Let’s not give up and get back to work for Aragon.”
