The orobici are first alone after five days

Atalanta beats Monza 2-0 at the U-Power Stadium and flies alone at the top of the Serie A championship standings after five days. Simultaneously, at the Arechi, it ends in a draw between Salernitana and Empoli, who draw 2-2.

In Brianza, in one of the many Lombard derbies of the season, Monza started off strong and showed a great desire to get unstuck in the standings. After the initial flare-up, however, Giovanni Stroppa’s team struggles a lot up front against Demiral and Toloi, and the orobici come out at a distance: deciding the match are Hojlund, who in the 58th minute signs the 0-1, and Marlon’s unlucky own goal, unlucky in the deflection on Lookman’s shot that mocks Di Gregorio.

Atalanta thus climbs to 13, two points ahead of Napoli and Milan. Monza, on the other hand, remains at zero.

In Monday afternoon’s other match, Salernitana and Empoli had to settle for a draw at the end of an emotionally charged encounter: Satriano put the Tuscans ahead in the 31st minute, Mazzocchi made it 1-1 in the 39th minute and Dia completed the comeback in the 61st minute, driving the home fans crazy. It took Lammers, however, in the 81st minute to put Empoli back on the scoreline: the 2-2 would remain on the scoreboard until the triple whistle.

In the standings Salernitana rises to 6 points, two more than Empoli, which finds its fourth consecutive draw after those with Fiorentina, Lecce and Hellas Verona.
