European Championships, Turkey wants footage or will drop out of the tournament
Harsh stance by Turkish staff
In Tbilisi, Turkey was beaten, after two overtimes, by hosts Georgia (88-83 the final). Keeping the spotlight, however, is the Turkish team’s threat to leave the tournament.
The reason? Korkmaz, a Turkish player, was allegedly assaulted by three Georgian players as he was returning to the locker room after being ejected. Onan, vice-president of the Turkish federation, was very clear: “If we are not given all the camera footage, we will leave the tournament. There have been problems here (in Tbilisi, ed.) since the beginning of the tournament. If you are not able to guarantee the safety of the players, you cannot do this job.”
