Conca did not show up at the starting line of the 17th stage of the Vuelta

Filippo Conca’s Vuelta of Spain ended early. The Lotto Soudal rider did not show up at the starting line of the 17th stage: he tested positive for Covid, as announced by his team.

“I am very sorry to have to leave my first grand tour like this,” stressed the young man, who placed fifth in the ninth stage of the Iberian race. I am especially so because I felt very good. I had the feeling that, for the first time in two years, I was really able to show what I am capable of. This first experience in a race at this level was very valuable for the future and I hope to come back next year.”
