Deshaun Thomas introduced himself to Olimpia Milano fans in a lengthy interview on the official website.

“When you think of a player like me,” he introduced himself, “you know I’m going to help you in so many different ways. To play 3’s you have to be in great shape. Obviously, I can change markings and offensively become a nightmare in terms of mismatch. It’s about rhythm, opportunity, timing, especially in the small wing position. My years playing 4 were my best years, but looking back both in Greece and at Maccabi I played 4-5 minutes a game from 3 and did very well. It depends on so many things. But if you shoot well, with high percentages, especially in those roles in Europe you are fine. Defensively, it also depends on the pairings and situations, they can chase the small guys or change on them. But it depends on what it takes to help the team, basically I’m here to do what it takes.”

Olimpia hopes it will be the final tool to fulfill a dream. “I chose it because it is a great company. And I like the team. I think this team has a chance to do what we’ve been talking about, get back to the Final Four. After coming close so many times, I would like to be the missing piece to help this team take that last step. And then Coach Messna. He has great experience. I know him through the Spurs. He is a great coach. Looking at his team over the last two years, I think there is only one piece missing. And I can be that piece.”
