First semifinal in a Slam for the U.S.

Tiafoe’s dream continues at the US Open. After eliminating Nadal, the U.S. did not stop and grabbed the semifinals (first time in a Slam tournament), overcoming Rublev. Tiafoe won in three sets: 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 the match’s partials.

He is the first U.S. player to reach the semifinals of his home tournament since back in 2006. “I love showing the world what I’m capable of. I just want to go out there and try to give the audience what they want, and that drives me to win,” his words reported by ESPN. Tiafoe is the first black player to reach the semifinals at the U.S. Open since Ashe (1972 edition).
