Remco Evenepoel won the 18th stage of the Vuelta starting in Trujillo and finishing on the Alto del Piornal.
The class of 2000 sees the final success in Madrid very close. Remco would be the first Belgian cyclist to win a grand tour in 44 years. Today’s victory virtually sealed his Red Jersey. The Belgian again showed great control and courage.
Evenepoel defeated Spaniard Enric Mas at the finish line after Robert Gesink raised the white flag with very little to go.. The Vuelta will conclude on Sunday, September 11, in Madrid.
