Memorable feat of the Azure

The preparation phase for the Women’s World Cup could not have ended better for Italy led by Andrea Di Giandomenico: in fact, the Azzurre beat France 26-19 in Biella, bouncing back from 0-14, in the last test before flying to New Zealand to take part in the rainbow event.

A full of confidence for the women’s Italrugby, which despite the absence of the captain Manuela Furlan, stopped by a knee injury in last week’s test-match in Nice against the transalpine women, managed to defeat the third force in the world rankings, conquering in turn the fifth place in the rankings.

They registered their names in the scorers’ table, as far as the Azzurre were concerned, Bettoni, Sillari and Ostuni-Minuzzi with a try and Rigoni with two transformations. Closing the match was a free kick goal in favor of the Italians.

Now it is time to think about the World Cup: Italy is placed in Group B with Canada, the United States and Japan: the group stage will be played from October 9 to 23.
