Carlos Alcaraz reveals his winning recipe.
“I give it my all until the last ball,” declared the Iberian.
Carlos Alcaraz never ceases to amaze. After the incredible victory achieved against Jannik Sinner at the end of a battle that lasted 5 hours and 15 minutes, the Spaniard granted an encore against a tough and never tame Frances Tiafoe, bent in the fifth set in the second semifinal of the Us Open. Now the talent from Murcia will face Casper Ruud in the final: the winner of the contest will also become world number one as of next Monday.
“It’s incredible to be able to fight for such important goals,” the Spaniard said after the match. “I see close, but at the same time far away, the possibility of becoming number one. Ruud has already played a final in a Slam, for me it will be the first time. I will give it my all, trying to keep the nerves at bay: I will try to enjoy the moment and see what happens.”
“My win against Tiafoe? In a semifinal of a Slam you always have to fight until the last ball, never giving up, giving everything you have inside. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been playing for five or six hours. Frances was fantastic, as were my many Spanish fans who came all the way here to support me. This final is for my team, for my family but also for all the people cheering for me,” she concluded.
