Last sprint to Molano, Vuelta goes to Remco Evenepoel
Remco Evenepoel in triumph
The Vuelta closed Sunday afternoon with the classic final parade through the streets of Madrid.
The twenty-first stage of the Iberian race was won in a surprise sprint by Juan Sebastian Molano, who beat the most emblazoned sprint specialists.
At the finish line the celebrations began for Remco Evenepoel, already essentially certain since yesterday of a historic triumph for him and all of Belgium.
“I had little time to think, but now we can celebrate. This is a success that goes into my history, for the team, for Belgium, for myself. This is the best way to close these three weeks.”
