Poland-Italy: here is the final of the volleyball World Cup
Poland-Italy: what a final this Volleyball World Cup
Italy, after getting rid of Slovenia in the semifinals (3-0), finds host Poland and defending world champion in the final.
After a painful quarterfinal against France and a quieter semifinal against Slovenia, the Azzurri will play for the title against Poland, which instead managed to win its semifinal tie-break against Brazil.
For Italy, the world title has been missing since 1998 when the so-called “golden generation,” in which current national team coach De Giorgi played, managed to beat Yugoslavia in Japan; as chance would have it, that was the third title in a row that the national team won. Poland will try today to emulate that feat; in fact, if the red and whites win, it would be the third consecutive World Cup for them. The 3-4 place final will be at 6 p.m., while the grand final will be held at 9 p.m.
