In a press note, Pallacanestro Cantù wished a happy birthday to Pierluigi Marzorati, a legend of the Lombard club: “The myth, the icon, the emblem of Canturinity and love for our jersey. Probably the best point guard in the history of Italian basketball, the creator par excellence of the perfect counterattack, the flying engineer, our number 14. A player of pure talent, on the parquet he made generations of Cantù fans and Italian basketball fans dream. Those who have not seen him play cannot even imagine what they have missed. A life for Cantù: from youth to Italian, European and world triumphs. On the court from 1969 to 1991 Marzorati collected the beauty of 692 appearances with the Canturina jersey (8,659 points), winning everything during the legendary epic of the very president Aldo Allievi. At the company he then served as vice president from 1991 to 1996.

A member of the FIBA Hall of Fame and the Italy Basketball Hall of Fame, Pierlo won with Cantù: two Scudetti, two Champions Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, four Cup Winners’ Cups and four Korac Cups. With the Italy jersey he made 277 appearances (a record), scoring 2,222 points. In the Italian national team he collected one European gold and three bronze medals, one Olympic silver and one under-18 continental bronze.
