There’s Italy-France, Malagò goes on the attack
Malagò makes the cards to Italy-France
Coni president Giovanni Malagò with the Gazzetta del Sud had his say on the challenge between Italy and France.
“The team has a great soul and Gianmarco has brought great enthusiasm to a group that has talent and quality to spare,” he stressed. “Of course, repeating against France will not be easy. Almost all of our opponents habitually play in the NBA and in the last Olympics they even held their own against the United States, staying in the game until a minute and a half from the buzzer. That says it all about a team that is laying the groundwork to accomplish the feat at the next Games, which it will play at home.”
“If Spissu plays like he did against Serbia, if Polonara is still making sparks, if Fontecchio, Melli and Ricci are working overtime, if Datome doesn’t miss a basket…. Then, yes, we’ll play it up to the 40′ even against a basketball powerhouse like France,” added the Italian sports number 1.
