Former blue tennis player stresses the mark left by Federer
Former Italian tennis player Corrado Barazzutti, commented to Adnkronos on the news of Federer’s retirement, who will leave tennis after the Laver Cup (Sept. 23-25): “In fact he had retired two years ago after all the problems with his knee, at the age of 41 it was impossible to recover, at that age there, you either quit or you don’t come back. He tried but a recovery was almost impossible. Not to see him play anymore makes my heart cry, he gave great luster and popularity to the sport.”
“I don’t think there will be another tennis player with his class, elegance and quality of play. Our sport for a symbol, he leaves an indelible mark on tennis,” continued the blue tennis flag.
Federer retires after a glorious career in which he won twenty Slams, including eight Wimbledons, the first in 2003 and the last in 2017.
