Berrettini: “It’s a sad moment.”

“It is a sad moment for tennis fans, myself in the first place, and for the sport in general.” Matteo Berrettini has no doubts about Roger Federer’s farewell to tennis.

“He is one of the greatest figures in global sports, he gave us and took tennis to a different level,” the Roman added. “I have never hidden that Roger represents one of the reasons I dreamed of trying to be a professional tennis player. I always cheered for him, I always tried to take my cue from him, he was an example on and off the court for his behavior and charisma. Unfortunately, it was in the air, but no one would have wanted to hear this news. We will miss having him in tournaments, we will miss his class and everything he gave to tennis. But he will remain in the history of tennis and sports forever. Thank you Roger.”
