The Mexican ended the trilogy with a bang.
At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo was confirmed as the sole world super middleweight champion. In the third act of his showdown with 40-year-old Kazakh boxer Golovkin, the Mexican won at the end of a spectacular match.
The 32-year-old Mexican’s victory came on points, which, therefore, retains the WBA, WBO, WBC, and IBF belts. Also worth highlighting is the purse that Canelo secured with this victory, amounting to an impressive $65 million. At the end of the match, the two embraced at length, sanctioning the end of a long rivalry that ended with the third act right at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
