“In case a GT deal comes along for Ferrari to have a character like Valentino Rossi would be a big deal.”

Paolo Beltramo in an interview with Sportal.it commented on the possibility of seeing Valentino Rossi driving a Ferrari in one of the GT championships in 2023: “I think next year, in case a deal with Ferrari comes, it will be fine. I don’t think Ferrari needs Rossi to become more popular, I mean yes definitely it will be important, especially in the production part. Ferrari in Formula One is already at the top anyway, it lacks winning the World Championship, otherwise it has many fans, good drivers it has, it has everything: charm, history, emotion. Whereas on the GT to have a character like him, which then are the cars that Ferrari sells, in my opinion it’s a big deal.”

On Valentino Rossi’s experience this season with the WRT team: “He’s always raced the Monza rally, he’s always had good cars, his dad Graziano is a fan of traversing, of these things here. I mean, cars, let’s say engines in general, have always been a passion for Vale. So once he stopped in motorcycles, it was quite normal that he would continue racing in a sport that allows you to go on even beyond the age of fifty.”

“The WRT team? I think Valentino had a lack of experience this year, and he raced with this team, with Audi, made some mistakes, and you’re still tied to the other two drivers, because it’s endurance racing, and so it’s all completely new to him. In Grand Prix you race from start to finish always with the same driver, whereas in this case all those set-up concepts have to fit everybody, have to satisfy a little bit of everybody, not just one. So little things that he was used to became completely new to him. Then maybe one rider prefers one way, one prefers another, in short there are compromises to be made that I think he was not yet used to, and he rightly needed to have this experience.”
