Lewis Hamilton vs. Max Verstappen: “He never recognized his talent”
Red Bull team principal Horner: “That’s why there was tension.”
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner in an interview at the microphones of the Beyond the Grid podcast returned to talk about the no-holds-barred duel between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen last season.
Horner pointed the finger at the British champion, who he said was guilty of never acknowledging his rival’s strength: “When Max won the Sprint at Silverstone after Lewis had gone on pole, he was devastated after that race. If he had passed him even in Copse, Hamilton would have lost that race. The rivalry touched him more than Max, who could only gain.”
“With Charles Leclerc it’s different, they’ve known each other and battled since they were kids, there’s respect between them. Hamilton was always rude to Max, he never recognized his talent. That’s why the tension was there and could be felt,” Horner’s harsh words.
