F1, Günther Steiner gives a percentage on Mick Schumacher’s tenure
Haas team principal spoke about the possible permanence of Mick Schumacher
Günther Steiner, the team principal of Haas, in an interview for the German television network ‘RTL,’ spoke about the chances of seeing Mick Schumacher back at the wheel of the U.S. single-seater, in the upcoming Formula 1 season.
“I get asked these questions all the time. It’s certainly possible that Schumacher will be in the Haas cockpit again next year, but the probability is fifty-fifty,” quantified the South Tyrolean executive.
“We don’t have to decide now. You put pressure on us and we don’t need it, we only hurt ourselves. We want to see what happens, after all Mick had a good race in Monza. The list for 2023 is certainly long: there is not only Schumacher but most of the drivers with a superlicense,” Steiner continued.
The team principal then made some names of Schumacher’s possible replacements for the 2023 championship: “There is also Nico Hülkenberg, I think the fans would like him very much. Daniel Ricciardo has to decide for himself what he wants to do. There’s not much point in convincing him to do anything, he has to decide for himself. If he feels like it, he will definitely call, otherwise he will probably take a sabbatical.”
