Ducati, Alvaro Bautista sweeps away controversy and dominates
Ducati centaur Alvaro Bautista won race 1 of the Catalunya round of Superbike.
Alvaro Bautista dominated and won race 1 of the Catalunya round of the World Superbike Championship: at Montmeló, the Spanish Ducati rider put aside his controversy with Jonathan Rea and won Saturday’s race at the Catalan track with authority, clearing the field and crossing the finish line alone.
Bautista was nearly nine seconds ahead of rival Rea, who finished second ahead of U.S. rider Garret Gerloff (Yamaha). Toprak Razgatlioglu did not shine, who finished fifth and is now 44 seconds behind in the overall standings. For Bautista, in his ninth win of the season, the final victory is closer.
