Alberto Puig happy for Marc Marquez. But not for Honda
Alberto Puig Speaks
Alberto Puig, to the microphones of Marca, dwells on Marc Marquez and the good things he showed in Motegi. “I think the pole position was very important for him, he hadn’t started from that position for a long time,” he says. “Even though it came in the wet, which is not a normal circumstance, it can’t help but be a very good indicator. Regarding the race, we knew it would not be easy for him and that Marc could suffer because it was the first full race he had done since Mugello, after Aragon. We were surprised by how well he held up.”
The Honda, however, is not as lightning fast as it was a few years ago. “We are trying to find the best direction and the way forward,” Puig admits. “Each race gives us more information. It would be wrong to say, ‘We know exactly what we have to do,’ but we are getting closer. The situation is clear and we are checking how, where and when we need to improve. Clearly no one in Honda is happy with these results, although there were positives in Japan. We have to keep reacting, we have to keep improving.”
