4-6 6-3 6-4 the score in favor of Paolini, who flies into the quarterfinals

At the WTA 250 in Parma, as was the case in Tuesday’s match against Germany’s Niemeier, Jasmine Paolini took a set to carbonize before putting on her best tennis. In the long-awaited Italian derby against Elisabetta Cocciaretto, the Castelnuovo di Garfagnana native in fact lost the first partial 6-4.

In the second partial Paolini reacted, although suffering more than necessary on her serves (at the end of the match there will be as many as 20 set-breaks conceded, of which only 5 were converted by her opponent), prevailing 6-3. In the third and decisive set, the Tuscan athlete placed the break in the fifth game – after having cancelled two other opportunities for the break in the previous game – keeping her composure in the decisive moments and rebuffing the comeback attempts of the 21-year-old from Ancona, who exits the confrontation defeated amidst a thousand regrets.
