Lorenzo Sonego recalls an emotional moment with Roger Federer
“Roger, an example to follow,” said the blue tennis player.
A few days after winning the Atp 250 tournament in Metz, Lorenzo Sonego, a 27-year-old Piedmontese tennis player currently ranked 49th in the Atp rankings, returned to talk, interviewed by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport,’ about Swiss legend Roger Federer’s farewell to tennis.
“I grew up watching his matches, he has always been my idol since I was a kid, an example to follow. To have shared the court with him is definitely something I will carry in my heart, even more so in a place like Wimbledon,” the Italian told.
Sonego added, “Roger is Roger, his farewell to tennis was a very emotional moment for everyone.”
“Big 3? They marked an era, there is no doubt, if today around our sport there is all this attention we owe it to them, but among the new generation there is no shortage of good players, tennis will go on, there will be no shortage of emotions,” Sonego concluded.
