Olimpia Milano, Voigtmann unveils prerogative to win Euroleague
Former CSKA Moscow unveils prerogative to win Euroleague
Olimpia Milano’s German center Johannes Voigtmann, in an interview for ‘La Repubblica,’ talked about the path ahead for the Milanese team in the Euroleague.
“I can’t make predictions about Milan. Olimpia has great players but if we can’t play and perform as a team, it doesn’t matter how many champions are on the roster. The level of the Euroleague is so high that you can only win with the collective and it’s hard to predict when we will all come together at the peak of our form. Then count the injuries and also the fact that if the Russian teams were excluded, many of their players went to reinforce other clubs: the cards are shuffled and the competition is even higher. There are too many variables to make predictions. Olimpia is one of the most exciting projects in Europe, it was built to go to the playoffs and then, of course, to the Final Four. But, at the moment, that doesn’t mean anything, the Euroleague level is so high that today I would struggle to point out the best eight,” explained the former CSKA Moscow and Saski Baskonia among others.
Then a few words about the first part of his adventure with the Red Shoes: “At Olimpia they welcomed me with open arms: I had already played with Shields and Hines, Melli’s wife is German and Nicolò also speaks my language perfectly. Milan is a great team but there are many of us new and it will take time to find the right rhythm together.”
