Ferrari, Mauro Forghieri has died: touching messages from Damon Hill and Lapo Elkann

Ferrari’s longtime technical director passed away at age 87. Montezemolo also remembered him

Former Ferrari president Luca Cordero di Montezemolo to Ansa recalled Mauro Forghieri, the historic technical director of the Maranello stable who passed away at the age of 87: “With Mauro Forghieri not only passes away one of the greatest Italian technicians, appreciated all over the world, but also a friend and a collaborator with whom I shared wonderful years and unforgettable sporting successes.”

Lapo Elkann also paid tribute to Forghieri: “Ferrari loses one of its most brilliant minds. One of those engineers to be proud of all over the world.”

Also remembering him was former driver Damon Hill, whose father Graham won the World Championship with Lotus during Forghieri’s years at Ferrari: “I never met him but his name is legendary. Hello Mr. Forghieri and thank you,” he wrote on social media.
