Stan Wawrinka “spanks” Holger Rune: harsh rebuke on the court

Wawrinka did not like some behaviors of Danish tennis rising star Holger Rune

Holger Rune is with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner one of the rising talents of world tennis. The class of 2003 also confirmed his progress at the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000, where in the second round he bent veteran Stan Wawrinka at the end of a hard-fought match in which he saved no less than three match points.

At the end of the match, however, at the moment of the mid-court embrace, a displeased Wawrinka whispered something in his ear that did not please the young man, who headed mournfully back to his bench despite the victory. French media later revealed Wawrinka’s exact words: “Stop behaving like a child on the court,” the Swiss said, referring to some of the behavior of the 19-year-old Dane, certainly among the most exuberant on the circuit with his exultations.
