NBA, Nets suspend Kyrie Irving for at least five contests
Anti-Semitic post by Nets star
Bad moment for Irving. On the court the team struggles and now comes a heavy suspension: at least five games without being able to play and without pay. The reason? An anti-Semitic post that is causing so much discussion in the United States.
“We were left speechless today when, during a press conference where he had the opportunity to deny his anti-Semitic views, Kyrie instead continually refused to do so. The issue is deeply disturbing and against the values of our franchise. Accordingly, we are of the opinion that he is currently ineligible to be a part of the Brooklyn Nets,” reads the franchise’s official statement. Irving will have a meeting with commissioner Silver soon, as revealed by ESPN.
