Next Gen ATP Finals, the schedule for the first day
The Carrara tennis player is the big favorite in the competition after Holger Rune withdrew
The Next Gen ATP Finals, scheduled to take place at Milan’s Palalido, are ready to get underway. From Nov. 8-12, the top 8 Under-21 tennis players will battle it out for a tournament that last year saw a certain Carlos Alcaraz, later to become world No. 1 during 2022, triumph.
Compounded by the withdrawal of Holger Rune, fresh winner of the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 and designated first reserve for the ATP Finals also thanks to the forfeit of Alcaraz himself, there are no less than three Azzuri participating in the event. They are Lorenzo Musetti, world number 23, Francesco Passaro, number 119, and Matteo Arnaldi – the Danish star’s replacement – number 134.
The first day’s program will be opened by Passaro, who in the Green Group will take on Jiri Lehecka, number 74 and the first tennis player from the Czech Republic, at 2 p.m. Next comes the debut of Lorenzo Musetti, in the Red Group, who faces Chun-Hsin Tseng of Taipei, ranked 90th.
The evening session is opened by Matteo Arnaldi, who will take on American Brandon Nakashima, number 49 ATP and first favorite in the Green Group. To finish, the match between Englishman Jack Draper, number 41, and Swiss Dominic Stricker, for the Red Group.
