Jose Mourinho: “I’m crying a lot.”

Since the beginning of the season, Roma has had to deal with numerous injuries, especially in the central midfield department. On the eve of the engagement against Sassuolo, Josè Mourinho vented thus, “There is one thing that affects us: we lost three midfield players, all of them starters. Mkhtaryan, Sergio Oliveira and Veretout. Wijnaldum doesn’t play a game, of those we have two left and one is Camara who arrives on the last day of the market and needs time. The other one is Matic, he didn’t come here to play with Cristante and he often finds himself having to play with him. We unfortunately had some unexpected problems both this year and last season. I’m crying a lot and I don’t like to do that, I like to say that all these problems opened the door for Volpato in Zalewski.”

The Giallorossi are coming off a derby defeat: “The reaction I expect is the same as always when we lose. Mine is a team of good people, who suffer when they lose. We know that when we lose a player, we are in trouble. However, something always comes in the end, tomorrow will be very difficult and last year Sassuolo gave us two really complicated games. I expect all the effort we can to get back to smiling, which we haven’t done for two days.”

In the defeat against Lazio Roger Ibañez’s mistake weighed like a boulder, but Mourinho is adamant: “We need respect for those who from the day I arrived today give everything they have even when they have been in trouble. Last year at one time of the season we only had him as center back and he was always there. When we went to Seville and I saw him in the morning I thought it was impossible for him to play and instead he took the field. He always put his face there, for me he is an untouchable.
