North American trip for the women’s blue team: great expectations for Federica Brignone and Sofia Goggia

A long training period away from home awaits the Italian women’s alpine ski team, in which the presence of “Fisi Athletes of the Year 2022” Federica Brignone and Sofia Goggia stands out. As announced by the Federation through an official note, technical director Gianluca Rulfi has summoned nine athletes for the trip to North America that will culminate with the slalom races in Killington in late November and for the speed races in Lake Louise in early December.

“Gianluca Rulfi, technical director of the women’s national alpine ski teams, has decided to summon nine athletes from the elite and multi-purpose World Cup group for nearly three weeks of training — from Wednesday, Nov. 9 to Saturday, Nov. 26 — on the North American slopes of Copper Mountain,” the note reads. On the Colorado snows, the Italian women will carry out a series of workouts and tests aimed at accumulating more skiing hours ahead of the races in Killington (USA) – where there will be a giant slalom and a slalom on Nov. 26-27 – and the speed opening (two downhill runs and a superg from Dec. 2-4) in Lake Louise, Canada.”

“Present at the trainings were the three elite athletes Marta Bassino, Federica Brignone and Sofia Goggia along with Roberta Melesi, Karoline Pichler, Elena Curtoni, Laura Pirovano and Nadia and Nicol Delago. Directing the work was the pool of federation technicians composed of Davide Brignone, Luca Agazzi, Daniele Simoncelli, Luca Borgis, Michael Mair, Giovanni Feltrin, Paolo Stefanini, Daniel Dorigo, Luca Scarian, Matteo Pretina Santagostino, Marco Sberze, Giorgio Pavoni, Darwin Pozzi and Giuseppe Abruzzini.”
