Olimpia Milano, Gigi Datome clear on challenge against Virtus Bologna
“It’s good for Italy,” Datome said.
Olimpia Milano player and captain of the Azzurri national team, Gigi Datome, spoke, interviewed by ‘Il Corriere dello Sport,’ ahead of the Euroleague match against Sergio Scariolo’s Virtus Bologna.
“As far as Italy is concerned, it is definitely good that there are two such big and important clubs. The Euroleague challenge represents a special opportunity to see these two strong teams in the European arena. It will definitely be an interesting game,” explained the former NBA player.
Finally, a first assessment of the results of the Milanese team in Europe: “I personally am happy with what I have seen so far. I see, once again, a serious group that is willing to work together. Everyone puts the team concept ahead of the rest. Of course, we are not yet where we would like to be but it takes time to find ourselves. In the summer many of us played with our respective national teams. The quality of the group is very good, the coach knows everyone, the desire to work is there; so, I would say the foundation is very good to do well.”
