Ferrari team principal Binotto: “It was a lottery, the decision could turn out to be right”

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto at Sky’s microphones returned to talk about the Maranello team’s strategy error during qualifying for the Brazilian GP, with Charles Leclerc finding himself the only one on track on intermediate tires: “Everyone is always ready to criticize… It certainly wasn’t the right move, but I thought more about why we came to that choice.”

The Maranello executive partly justified the Rossa’s strategists, “That was a lottery. The fact that there was Kevin Magnussen on pole with Hamilton eighth and Perez ninth is further evidence of that. We have to reflect on the process more than the choice, which could have turned out to be right.”

Leclerc then remounted in the Sprint Race and will start from fifth on the grid.
