Gianmarco Pozzecco doesn’t change men for Georgia: ‘Let’s play while having fun’
Pozzecco doesn’t change
After the sprint defeat against Spain, the Azzurri face Georgia on Monday 14 in a decisive match for the ranking of Group L of the second phase of qualification for the FIBA World Cup 2023.
In the brand new Tbilisi Arena, built to host one of the EuroBasket 2022 rounds, the match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Italian time (7 p.m. local time) live on Rai 3, Eleven and Sky Sport 1 and Arena.
With a victory, including by virtue of the first leg success in Brescia (91-84), Italy would be mathematically qualified for the World Cup. Otherwise, it will have to wait for the two matches in the last window (Feb. 23, 2023 at home against Ukraine and Feb. 26, 2023 away in Spain).
For the challenge to the team of Toko Shengelia and Giorgi Shermadini, CT Pozzecco chose the same 12 Azzurri from the Pesaro game. Out, therefore, from the roster is Tomas Woldetensae.
Thus coach Gianmarco Pozzecco: “The goal is to be able to stop the energy of their best players, on all of course Shengelia, Shermadini and McFadden. Given our size it will be crucial to do a good tactical job under the basket. Otherwise I want my guys to play having fun and putting passion into what they do as always.”
