FIP president and Italbasket coach will meet with Magic talent

In the aftermath of the victory in Georgia that gave Italbasket a pass for the 2023 World Cup, Federbasket president Gianni Petrucci addressed, in an interview with ‘Sky Sport,’ the topic related to the possible call-up for the rainbow tournament of Paolo Banchero, an Italian-American talent starring in the NBA with the Orlando Magic, who chose him last summer with the first overall call-up at the Draft.

“I am confident about the choice of Banchero,” Petrucci said. “Next December 3 I will leave for Florida, together with the head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco and general manager Salvatore Trainotti, to talk with him. I think he has a desire to play with us, he would be a number one on our team.”

“His father and grandfather would also like to see him in the national team jersey and cheer for him. Now that we have qualification in our pocket he might be even more convinced of the idea of joining us.”
