Former Canadian driver Villeneuve can’t explain it: “Why did he react like that?”

Jacques Villeneuve cannot explain Max Verstappen’s reaction during the Brazilian Grand Prix when he refused to follow a team order to favor Sergio Perez.

“I don’t understand his reaction,” Villeneuve wrote on formule1.nl. “Red Bull, the team that has meant so much to Max, asked for a reward for all the work Checo has done for him. Perez’s extra points would have been important for the team, which wants to have its drivers in first and second positions. I don’t understand why Verstappen didn’t pay attention to the orders.”

“Why does he care about sixth or seventh place – continued the Canadian driver? For him nothing changes, it makes a difference for Perez and the team. Besides, the Mexican helped him a lot past. It’s not like Max had to give up a place on the podium, as in the case of Sainz and Leclerc.”
