Luwawu-Cabarrot has signed with Olimpia Milano
Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano announced that it has reached an agreement with Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, born in Cannes, France, on May 9, 1995, 2.01 in stature, last season to the Atlanta Hawks.
“Luwawu-Cabarrot is a player in the midst of physical and technical maturity, versatile and athletic, who we believe can help our team,” said Christos Stavropoulos, general manager of the biancorossi.
“I am very happy to return to play in Europe and to be able to do so in Milan, at this club,” said Luwawu-Cabarrot. “I am extremely excited about the opportunity to help the team chase the goals it has set for itself and win as many games as possible. I can’t wait to meet all the fans and get started.”
Tim Luwawu-Cabarrot, who is of Congolese descent, started playing in Antibes’ youth team. In 2014 he made the first team and scored an average of 7.1 points in his debut season. The following season he moved to Serbia to Mega Leks where in 28 games in the Adriatic League he averaged 14.6 points with 4.8 rebounds per contest. At the end of that season, in 2016, he declared for the NBA drafts and was selected in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers at No. 24. He played two years in Philadelphia then was traded to Oklahoma City and later to Chicago. He then spent two years in Brooklyn and one in Atlanta. In 2019/20 he averaged 7.8 points on 38.1% shooting from three. In all, he played 328 NBA games with 60 appearances in the quintet and 16.0 minutes of usage per game. Luwawu-Cabarrot won the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics scoring 9.0 contest points with 37.5% in three-point shooting in the six games of the Olympic tournament. She also won silver at the 2022 European Championships.
