ATP Finals, Casper Ruud targets Novak Djokovic: his admission
Clear words aimed at the fearsome outfielder he will face in the final.
Casper Ruud will contend with Novak Djokovic for the ATP Finals in the last act in the event held in Turin Sunday night. The Norwegian, after the 6-2 6-4 snatched in the semifinals against Andrey Rublev, has already put his next opponent in his sights at a press conference. And, after the certainly not positive record, he now has clear ideas.
“Winning the final would be something amazing for me,” Ruud explained. “However, I am aware of how difficult it is to face Djokovic on indoor concrete. It is one of the most complicated challenges in the history of tennis. However, I have to believe in it, even if it is tough. I have never been able to win against him, but I have to believe.”
Ruud, however, did not want to anticipate the strategy he will adopt in the last act of the ATP Finals: “I will have to come up with something, in the knowledge that it will not be an easy task. But I admit I am surprised even to be here. Out of four major tournaments on concrete I have reached the finals three times, and that is great. So far I haven’t had great results, but getting this far has given me great confidence and motivation.”
