Mazzocchi out for about two months

Pasquale Mazzocchi underwent instrumental examinations on Monday to assess the extent of the injury suffered during a training session in training camp with the national team. The Salernitana right-back had in fact suffered a sprain to his right knee after a session led by coach Mancini.

It was the same granata club to make known the outcome of the examinations through an official statement: “The clinical and radiological control to which Pasquale Mazzocchi underwent this morning at the Check-Up Poly-Diagnostic Center showed a contusion-distortion injury of the right knee with involvement of the medial collateral ligament. The athlete has already started physiotherapy treatment and will undergo further radiological investigations in the coming days.”

Recovery time has not been defined but it certainly will not be short. The Neapolitan right flanker risks a two-month stop, thus postponing his return to the field beyond Jan. 4 (the date of the resumption of the championship), indicatively for the 19th day, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 21, against Napoli, thus missing three important matches against Milan, Torino and Atalanta. Coach Nicola hopes to have him available again sooner, everything will depend on the progress of the treatment and the new checks Mazzocchi will undergo. Certainly this is bad news for the Campania club and its coach, who will have to do without one of the revelations of this beginning of the championship for a few days.
