Senegal-Holland lineup probabilities

There is curiosity surrounding the World Cup debut of Van Gaal’s Netherlands, which will take on Senegal at Al Thumama Stadium at 5 p.m. in a match valid for the first day of Qatar 2022 Group A, opened Sunday by Ecuador’s victory over the host nation.

The Oranje come to the challenge without Depay, who has not yet recovered from his muscle injury: Gakpo and Bergwijn should play in attack, supported by Klaassen. Inter Milaner Dumfries is not in perfect physical condition, the presence of Atalanta’s Koopmeiners in midfield is certain instead.

Senegal will be without star Mané until the end of the tournament: up front Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia will have a chance, playing alongside Diatta and Sarr.

The likely lineups:

Senegal (4-3-3): E. Mendy; Sabaly, Cissé, Koulibaly, Ballo-Touré; Kouyaté, N. Mendy, I. Gueye; I. Sarr, Dia, Diatta. CT: Aliou Cissé.
Netherlands (3-4-1-2): Pasveer; Timber, van Dijk, Aké; Dumfries, Koopmeiners, F. De Jong, Blind; Klaassen; Gakpo, Bergwijn. CT: van Gaal.
