Virtus Bologna, for Nico Mannion, it wasn’t a walk in the park
For Nico Mannion against Trent, it was no walk in the park
Virtus Bologna clinched a victory, which allowed them to remain full points in the standings, in the match valid for the seventh day of the Italian top basketball league against Trento.
Nico Mannion was on the shields: the former Golden State Warriors point guard scored 15 points and dished out 2 assists to his teammates.
After the success, the player chosen in the 2020 Nba Draft spoke about the game this way, at the microphones of ‘Eleven Sports’: “It’s never easy to play games like these. We started well, with a good first half, then we knew they would come back more decisive and physical, shooting well. In the end we won and that’s what counts. We are a very large group, so when one player is on the bench or off, the others definitely have to be ready.”
Last season, Virtus Bologna saw the confirmation of the Scudetto it won in 2021 slip away only in the playoff final, lost 4-2 to Olimpia Milano. The highlight of the Felsinians’ year, however, came on May 11, with the conquest of the Eurocup, won in the final against Turkey’s Bursaspor. This success gave Scariolo’s men a pass for the 2022-23 Euroleague season, a competition the Bolognese had not participated in for 14 years.
