Roger Federer, retirement confession: here’s what he misses the least
Along with much nostalgia, there is also a tinge of relief.
Roger Federer returned to his retirement from tennis during a promotional event in Japan of which he was a guest. And, in a press conference given by the French ‘Le Figaro’, he explained this time what he will least miss about the sporting activity in which he has been an absolute star for nearly 25 years.
“When you are a tennis player,” Federer noted, “you are always thinking about your next training, your next trip, your next match. Those thoughts are always with you. And frankly, I don’t think I realized the place it occupied in my mind. It’s when you stop that you realize the amount of stress that goes away.”
“Take the example of the doping control: you had to give one hour a day of availability. It’s always there in your head. And when all that ends, suddenly you really feel lighter, like the relief of finally being able to live normally after 25 years,” Federer added.
