F1, Aston Martin: for Fernando Alonso new tests but old single-seater
The Asturian has just arrived from the Alpine
In Bahrain, Fernando Alonso made his debut as Aston Martin’s new driver. The Spaniard completed 97 laps at the wheel of the AMR22. It was supposed to be the last test of the 2022 season and, instead, the Spanish driver will get another chance to store miles with the old single-seater.
Pirelli has scheduled more tests. On February 7/8, in Jerez, it will be the turn of Aston Martin, which will have to show up, like all the other teams, still with the old single-seater (there will be an FIA technician to point out any anomalies in the single-seater set-up). Then, at the end of February, Fernando Alonso will finally have a chance to start experimenting with the new single-seater. For now, room still for the AMR22, which, in fact, is all new to Fernando Alonso, given his recent past at Alpine.
