Likely lineups

After the thud with Saudi Arabia, Argentina faces Mexico, coming off a draw with Poland, in the second day of Group C. The match is scheduled for 8 p.m. Italian time at the Iconic Stadium in Lusail.

Scaloni is preparing a few changes to shake up Messi and his teammates: in defense Romero will give way to Lisandro Martinez, while on the outsides Molina and Tagliafico will be replaced by Montiel and Acuna; in the midfield there is Fernandez in place of Paredes, and in attack Mac Allister is favored over Papu Gomez, with Messi and Di Maria, behind Lautaro Martinez.

Martino, on the other hand, reintroduces the same lineup that took the field with Poland. The only one risking his place is central forward Martin with Raul Jimenez pawing the field. On his sides are Vega and the Neapolitan Lozano. Confirmation for Chavez in midfield and even more so for Ochoa between the posts who parried the penalty to Lewandowksi.

Likely lineups.
