Lorenzo Musetti struggles but loses to Auger-Aliassime: doubles decisive
The Canadian outlasted Musetti in two sets
It will be decided by the doubles match between Italy’s pair of Fognini and Bolelli and Canada’s pair of Pospisil and Shapovalov in the Davis Cup semifinals staged in Malaga.
In fact, in the second singles match, Lorenzo Musetti was overcome in two sets (6-3, 6-4) by Felix Auger-Aliassime.
In the first set, the Carrarino tried to stay in touch but everything got complicated with the Canadian’s break in the sixth game: the Italian failed to respond and Auger-Aliassime took the lead.
A more gallivanting second set from Musetti, who, however, loses his turn at bat at the score of 4-4. Compounded by the Canadian’s great day at bat, who netted 12 aces against the Italian’s four, the class of 2002 had to surrender 6-4.
